So Splatter has a new addition, a cute little Hermann tortoise around a year old. She needed a name and as finding out the sex of a tortoise usually doesn’t happen for a few years, we chose Olive. |

Hermann's tortoises are small to medium-sized tortoises from southern Europe. She has a brown and yellow-patterned carapace. |

Hermann Tortoises tend to have slightly hooked upper jaws and, like other tortoises, possess no teeth, just strong, horny beaks. Their scaly limbs are greyish to brown, with some yellow markings, and their tails bear a spur (a horny spike) at the tip. |

Adult males have particularly long and thick tails, and well-developed spurs, distinguishing them from females. So if needed we could add an .er onto her name, or not. Olive is a cutie either way. |

With a long life span ahead of her, she’ll be here with us. |
